We asked to return some of the poles because they kept breaking, but were not credited for all that we returned. Not nice...
"Rent Camping Tent" is a phrase that attracts most of the campers whether they are novice or an experienced person. You can easily find such options at the campsite's general store and at the supplier's web site.
It is also helpful if you are planning to purchase one, as it allows you to use one of similar kind before you purchase some tent for you. People who go on camping trips occassionaly also opt such options. The choice of tent of your preference depends upon three factors, that is, personal style, rental logistics and tent ratings.
1) Personal Style- You may opt for minimalist style or the comforts of your choice in a tent. A utilitarian tent would be sufficient if you are more interested in spending most of your time fishing or kayaking, climbing, hiking etc. as there would be very less need of a tent in such a trip. You would require a large and spacious tent if you are camping with large group of friends or family. All websites offer a wide range of choices for tents to suit every weather condition and season. Moreover, you may choose the model of your choice.
2) Rental Logistics- For people, who prefer to rent their tent from local store should ensure their booking long before they had to go for camping as it becomes difficult during the camping season to get the model of your choice. You can even pick up your rented tent near the camping place if you are renting it from a chain of stores.
For this, you can refer to the website to ensure that is there any other convenient place of delivery. Direct online rental is also a good option to rent a tent from a vendor who specialize in equipment sales as they have more options available than any gear stores.
Such vendors ship the tent to your door. Only hassle is that you would have to repack the tent and ship back to them after your trip. You can also use a combo offer that combines your equipment rental and site fee for camping into a single package. Such offers are easily available at concessionaire-run or private campsites. You may also go to gear outlets and camp stores at popular trailheads and parks.
3) Tent Ratings- Tent ratings may be new for novice campers. It is all based upon the occupancy and seasonal rating. Tents that provide good ventilation during summers or warm weather are known as the 1- season tents. But these 1- season tents are not good during heavy rains. You should opt for a 3-season tent if you want to withstand light snow, heavy rain and ensure good ventilation.
For more protection, you should rent a 4-season tent that can bear heavy snow and high winds due to its sturdier poles and fabric. It is better to rent a convetible tent if you are going in winters as you can convert them into 3-season tents by removing panels. If you are backpacking then you should consider the weight of the tent which is an important factor in determining its rent. It is advised that you rent a tent that could accomodate one extra person rather than the counted friends or family campers to get that extra room for comfort.
You should also consider the cancellation policies and vendor's reservation requirements before finalizing the deal. Check if the vendor charges you for wet or dirty tent when you return it after the trip.
